National Winner of ‘Enjoy England
in Excellence Self Catering Holiday of the Year 2005'. English tourism’s
highest accolade.
A country idyll. This is rural Herefordshire, county of black and white
timber-framed cottage, rolling rural landscape and ancient church. It’s
a country scene largely untouched by the ravages of time. It’s a place
for peaceful days and deep, dark, starry, starry nights.
The beautiful village of Whitbourne sits on the Herefordshire,
Worcestershire border. You’ll find the Olde Rectory opposite an ancient
12th century church in a secluded conservation area. The five original
16th century buildings: the gardener’s shed, kitchens, coach house,
cowshed and cider press have been lovingly transformed into multi
award-winning holiday properties. Each is unique and beautifully
restored to combine original features – exposed oak beams and
millstone-flagged floors – with luxurious modern living – Chinese wool
carpets and leather chesterfields. Handmade, gourmet-equipped kitchens
and beautifully appointed bathrooms complete the scene.
Attention has been paid to every detail. There are luxurious four poster
beds with crisp cotton sheets, logs cut to burn on wood burning stoves,
carefully lit private courtyards and gardens for alfresco dining. A
communal herb garden and apple and walnut orchard offer rich pickings to
every guest. This Herefordshire hideaway is truly divine. It’s a perfect
perennial retreat.
