Scotland

78,772 square kilometers

Scotland may be divided into three main geographic regions. The southern Uplands is a region of high, rolling moorland cut by numerous valleys. The central Lowlands is Scotland's most populous district and the focus of its commercial and industrial cities. Separated from the Lowlands by the Grampian mountains are the Highlands of the north, a rough, mountainous region divided by the Great Glen and containing Ben Nevis (1,343 m), the highest peak in Great Britain.
