cycling (hire available), touring the Northern Dales, or simply relaxing
to enjoy our stunning scenery. They are situated in the heart of Herriot
Country on the River Swale amid the valleys and hills of the unspoilt
Swaledale. Barn End: Situated close to the village centre of Reeth. This
spacious and traditional 18th century cottage was once a barn and
stable. Its period character of exposed beams and stonework is retained
in the lounge. The kitchen and bathroom are fully tiled and the former
has solid pine dining furniture. The large bedrooms (one double and one
twin) provide firm beds and ample storage. To the rear of the property
is a cobbled area offering impressive views over Arkengarthdale. A
garage at the rear is accessible for the storage of those extras that
you may bring, such as mountain cycles, canoes, fishing gear etc. |
The Beck: A traditional two bedroomed stone built cottage (circa 1810) nestles at the side of Grinton Gill and enjoys panoramic views. The row of cottages is described in 'James Herriot's Yorkshire' as "it would be difficult to find a more picturesque line of dwellings anywhere". Totally renovated and refurbished, the cottage has the comforts of upvc double glazing yet maintains the period character of exposed beams and stonework. The Beck consists of ground floor lounge, separate
dining area, kitchen and twin bedroom. Upstairs is a spacious double
bedroom (with scenic views of Fremington Edge) and a large bathroom.
Ample storage space is provided in all rooms. To the front of the
property is a garden with seating exploiting the views of Fremington
Edge and to the rear is a spacious south facing large walled garden/play
