Gledfield Mill is a restored water mill on its own in 4 acres
of fields overlooking the river Carron, close to the Kyle of
Sutherland (Inverness 45 mins). It was lovingly renovated to
an excellent standard in 1997, with much original milling features
intact and open beams and wood burning stove.
Accommodation
is in one king size, one double and one twin room with an additional
single futon if required. Two cots and two high chairs
are available along with a selection of indoor and outdoor toys.
A secure garden overlooking the river contains a gas and solid
fuel barbecue with wrought iron and hardwood garden furniture.
Fully fitted kitchen includes microwave, dishwasher, washing
machine, tumble drier and a full range of kitchen equipment.

Fishing, walking, dolphin watching, beaches are all easily accessible.

Eilean
Mhor is the former farmhouse, built in 1840, and renovated in
9187. It forms the west side of the courtyard, with uninterrupted
views over Loch Linnhe with the mountains of Mull in the background.
The house, which comfortably accommodates 6 plus a baby, has
large, bright rooms.
In
addition there are two smaller single-storey, semi-detached
cottages, recently converted and modernised, each sleeping 4
people.

Newly restored highland cottage of character. 2 minutes walk
from the shores of Loch Kishorn, overlooking the Isle of Skye
and the Cuillins. The true highland of Scotland, with rugged
hills sweeping down to a sea loch, this is an area ideally suited
to the walker, fisherman, climber, artist, bird and wildlife
enthusiast with a magnificent coastline to explore. The picturesque
lochside villages of Shieldaig and Plockton, the majestic hills
of Torridon and the misty Isle of Skye within easy driving distance.
There is an excellent shop and seafood restaurant within walking
distance in Kishorn (half-mile) and the village Lochcarron (five
miles) provides more food and basic shopping.
On
the ground floor:

large and sunny sitting room, with views to the well known Bealach-na-Ba
(Pass of The Cattle) and the Applecoss hills. The sitting room
has a wood burning stove and colour TV. There is a new modern
kitchen with electric hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer
and large pine dining table. There is a separate utility room
with automatic washing machine/dryer, boiler and clothes drying
area; bathroom and twin bedroom.

The
bungalow has 3 bedrooms,1 double and 2 twins
The lounge has an open fire, colour television and video. There
is a hatch from the kitchen to the dining area of the lounge.
There is electric central heating. The fitted kitchen has a
washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and microwave. The
bathroom has both a shower and a jacuzzi/bath.
Tourist board grading 3 stars. There is a payphone and games
room with pool and table tennis for the use of guests occupying
the bungalow about a distance of 200 yards.
It is set in superb tranquil countryside - under 2 miles from
the coast and sandy beach. The ferry to the Isle of Skye is
a 5 minute crossing. There is an abundance of wildlife, golden
eagles, sea eagles and many of the rarer bird species, a local
seal colony and wildlife otters. This is where Gavin Maxwell
lived and wrote his books including 'Ring of Bright Water'.
The
site of his home at Sandaig is one of the most beautiful locations
in the area. Several of the surrounding peaks exceed 3000 feet.
The area is rich in history. The road was built by General Wade
in the early eighteenth century to serve Bernera Barracks, the
ruins of which still stand. In earlier times, the area was the
site of a pictish settlement and the ruins of the two brochs,
Dun Telve and Dun Trodden, are the best preserved examples of
these structures on the Scottish mainland.
